Director, Artistic Director of Liaoning Ballet
Qu Zijiao has been awarded as the National First-Class Actress and Outstanding Expert of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. She enjoys the Special Government Allowance Expert of the State Council. She is the Vice Chairman of Liaoning Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Currently She is undertaking the Artistic Director of Liaoning Ballet, the Principal of Liaoning Ballet affiliated Dance School, as well as the Deputy to the 9th, 10th Liaoning Provincial People's Congress, and the member of the 12th Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. She has been invited to be the panel member for the international professional events e.g. Varna International Ballet Competition, Moscow International Ballet Competition etc.
She has been a Principal Dancer of Liaoning Ballet and performed in a number of world classic ballet works such as “Swan Lake”, “Le Corsaire”, “La fille mal gardée” and Chinese ballet works “Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai”, “The Peacock's Gallbladder” and “Home” etc. She has won the Gold Award in France International Ballet Competition in 1988.
In recent years, Liaoning Ballet has been dedicated to producing the original Chinese ballet works with profound regional characteristics under her leadership, such as the ballet poem “Liaohe River•Lullaby” full of the regional customs of Liaoning Province, the original Chinese ballet "Eight Heroines" of reflecting the spirit of Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, the original Chinese ballet "Mulan" of illustrating the "loyalty and filial piety" national model, the original ballet "Iron Man" of describing the patriotism of one-generation oil workers by taking the "Spirit of Iron Man" as the core, and the ballet poem "Role Models" of narrating the "Spirit of Lei Feng" from the teenagers’ point of view etc., accumulating the historical, artistic and popular original works for the development of Chinese ballet art. Meanwhile, she has introduced the globally high-standard artistic works through co-producing the ballets “Spartacus”, “Romeo and Juliet” with the famous Russian leading choreographer - Yuri Grigorovich, cooperating with the “Dancer of Century” - Vladimir Malakhov to choreograph the ballet “Swan Lake”, cooperating with the well-known Portuguese choreographer - Rui Manuel Lopes Graca to choreograph the modern ballet poem "Butterfly Lovers" and "Songs without Words", and collaborating with the globally renowned choreographer Patrick de Bane to create the neoclassic ballet "Notre Dame de Paris". She has also cooperated with the ballet theaters and choreographers in South Africa, America, Germany and Italy etc. for production and performance so as to make a beneficial attempt and exploration for the international exchange of Chinese ballet art.
She has been focusing on the selection and cultivation of ballet talents these years, put more efforts in exploring the juvenile ballet talents by relying on the domestically largest professional ballet talent cultivation base (Liaoning Ballet affiliated Dance School), providing the excellent growing space and developing opportunity for them. Rely on the unique education mode, a number of ballet artistic talents have been cultivated to perform at both domestic and global stages. Her students are hired by the well-known ballet companies in Asia, Europe, America.
